Tera's wish

make a photo book

A photobook is a lot of fun! You will need a camera and a roll of 36 exposure film.

The goal is to create a 36 page book that tells a story in photographs. You can only take one photo of each subject - and it is OKAY if the photos are not perfect. The point is to tell the story through images, so your choice of subject to tell the story is more important than the quality of the photos. You can take lousy photos and still be able to do this exercise!

Step One: decide your subject matter. You may want to take the photos first, then put them together and write your story, or you may want to decide the story and decide what the images will be in advance.

Step Two: take the photos and have them developed.

Step Three: Take 18 pieces of paper and glue your photographs to them (one on each side of the paper. For visual interest, I like to vary the placement of the photos. Be sure to leave room on the side you will want to bind the pages together.

Step Four: Write your story on the pages around your photos. I like to use a different color pen on each page. I have also used paper, or silver and gold paint pens to make frames for the photos on the page. Your story may take one word per page, or it may take the entire page. That is up to you.

Try it!
