the one that got away
This is a great exercise! Write a letter to a person you like, or loved, that you didn't end up. This letter is a reply. Today, you received the following letter from them:
Dear you,
How are you? I have been thinking of you so much lately. I am so sorry for anything I may have done to hurt you. I was young and immature. That is no excuse, but I want you to know that I realize what I've done. Please write to me and let me know how you are. I would like to know that you are happy.
Signed,
Foolish
Your reply should tell them all the things they missed out on by not being with you. Give details! You aren't going to send it, so go ahead and gloat. Tell them they were a fool - and why. Tell them why you were and are worth having around. Be superior!
When you have finished the letter, put it in a beautiful envelope and seal it. Then rip it up into tiny little shreds. With every rip let go of the anger, frustration and hurt in the letter and embrace all of the wonderful things you wrote about yourself. Finally, remember, it really is their loss! You are a terrific, loving, giving person. You deserve the best!
