Tera's wish

what you see is what you get

" A decision is more than a wish. When you decide to get something done, it will get done. When you truly decide, it's more than just a vague intention. It's more than saying you're going to do it. It's more than hoping to get it done someday. It is a commitment that you make to yourself. When you truly decide, it will happen." - Ralph Marston

One of the most powerful lessons I have learned in my life is that we control our thoughts and emotions. If you think about it, emotions are just thoughts. We feel "guilt" or "remorse" or "happy" depending on how we interpret various events. If your pet dies, for example, you don't feel "grief" until you find out about their death. At that point, your mind interprets your sense of loss and sadness as "grief" and you feel it acutely.

You have the power to change your thoughts and emotions in many ways. Have you ever been really mad about something, and then had something come up that you had to deal with right then, and when you were through with the task you realize that your anger had abated? We control our thoughts and emotions by the way that we choose to interpret events.

Most of us have a fairly active "theater of the mind". We imagine ourselves in a variety of situation based on stimulus. You may see yourself as the hero/heroine of a book. You may come out of a movie and imagine yourself a spy, or a chocolate maker! Those daydreams are powerful. Pay attention to them. For example, do you imagine yourself in victim roles waiting for someone to rescue you? Do you see yourself as powerful and in control? These thoughts have power to influence our lives. Garbage in/ Garbage out. Be careful what you imagine as it will effect your every day life.

Ralph Marston says, "A decision is more than a wish. When you decide to get something done, it will get done." When we set goals, we can either make them a wish, or we can make a decision to make those things happen. I have a phrase that we often use when we are faced with a challenge. It is, "whatever it takes, I will do it." That is a powerful statement.

You can accomplish so much more than you think. Go back in your mind to times that you were sure you would not be able to cope. You have gotten through everything life has dished out to you so far. When you think about this, you realize that YOU control the course of your life. You control how you interpret your experiences.

Today, decide to make your future all that it can be. Write down specifics. Imagine it to be true.
