When I was a child, my father was an avid fan of "self-help" books. (Now you know where I get it from!) Often when I would talk about something I wanted he would told me that if I wanted to achieve it, I would have to develop a "burning desire" for it. Now, frankly, at age 16, this sounded like something out of a romance book - and I didn't get it. But I get it now . . .
It is important to be grateful in the moments of our lives when things "click" and everything is going well that often times of great frustration precede those times. What you have in your life should be appreciated, but what you don't have will challenge you and compel you to take risks, to get out there and push yourself to succeed!
If you think about your life, and specifically about a time that you were focused and driven to complete a task, do you remember how excited and energized you were during that time?
The challenge then is to learn to see frustration as a challenge that will have personal meaning for you. Something that will force you to stretch your own skills, become better and more than you are today! If you think about the human race, we were built to respond to danger, challenge and rise to the occasion!
Frustration is simply a negative reaction to a challenge. When this happens, force yourself to find a new way to look at the situation. Tony Robbins asks the question, "What could be good about this?" If you can find something good about the situation, you can rethink your frustration into something exciting and challenging. When that happens, there is no stopping you!
